Japanese food is recognized as very healthy and is popular in many countries. However, from the perspective of a diet to prevent dementia, it is not welcome to let go. If you look at the sugar content of the menus of Japanese restaurants, you will notice that many ready-made products are rich in sugar and mirin.

Let's take a look at a set of dishes made from fish. Boiled miso, teriyaki, Saikyo, Kabayaki, etc. These contain a lot of sugars such as sugar as seasonings. If you are cooking with meat, you should avoid meat potatoes, sukiyaki, and Chikuzen-ni, and some Japanese restaurants offer free refills of rice. When you think of a low-carb diet, nothing is more scary than free refills. However, when using a Japanese restaurant, avoid the menus listed above and choose a grilled fish set, fish sashimi set, chicken fried chicken set, homemade grilled ginger set, meat shabu-shabu set, and so on. Don't eat rice, and even if you eat it, make it about half a bowl.

Japanese food has sushi, but this is completely useless. It is made of white rice, and sushi rice contains plenty of sugar. What's more, fine restaurants are also unacceptable when it comes to low-carb diets. This is because seasonings are high in sugar. At high-end restaurants, the dishes are served as a single dish. It starts with an appetizer, followed by simmered and steamed foods, vinegared foods, cooked foods, roasted foods, soups, and rice. Of these, only roasted and soup can be eaten with peace of mind. Other dishes are high in sugar and increase the risk of dementia. As you can see, you need to be careful in fine restaurants, but French food does not contain sugar, so it is okay if you pay attention to bread and dessert cakes. There is also a wide variety of low-carbohydrate foods.

Yakitori restaurants have a wide variety of yakitori such as onions, cartilage, meatballs, liver, and chicken wings. You can eat as much as you want without worrying about sugar. However, please use salt as a seasoning when ordering. Sugar and mirin are used in the sauce, which makes yakitori, which should be safe, dangerous. Eat plenty of grilled vegetables such as shiitake mushrooms, green peppers, and onions, as well as yakitori. As for toppings, you can order low-carbohydrate foods such as edamame, cold tofu, and onion slices without hesitation.

Izakaya has a richer menu than yakitori. Most of the yakitori restaurant's menu mentioned above is included. Other recommended menus at the izakaya include various types of sashimi for fish, grilled fish and grilled squid, and for meat, dice steak, boston butt roast, Sanzoku-yaki, and fried chicken. Vegetables include salads, cooked vegetables, and pickles. On the other hand, for potatoes, you should avoid french fries, croquettes, meatballs, potato salad, etc. In addition, you should avoid stewed fish dishes, dough-rich tempura, dumplings, and dumplings. Needless to say, exclude rice and pasta from the menu. For alcohol, avoid brewed liquor such as beer and sake, and choose distilled liquor such as shochu and whiskey. Brewed liquor contains a lot of sugars that raise blood sugar levels.

Others prefer Western restaurants such as French and Italian. These foods can also be used in diets to prevent dementia. Since French food uses dairy products such as butter, some people may be concerned about calories, but don't worry because the sugar itself is low. For example, vegetable aspics, smoothies, mousses, snails and foie gras served as appetizers. Fish dishes include poire, roasted herbs, and bouillabaisse. Meat dishes include veal and lamb sirloin steaks and grilled gibier. Wine can only be drunk if it is a sweet white wine that is high in sugar. Red wine is especially recommended as it is rich in antioxidant polyphenols.

Speaking of Italian food, pasta, pizza, risotto and other high-carbohydrate dishes are famous, but there is no problem if you avoid them. You can enjoy a variety of dishes such as prosciutto and sausage, fish carpaccio, mozzarella cheese and tomato caprese, and aqua pazza with stewed seafood. Italian food goes well with wine, but avoid sweet white wines. If you want to drink white wine, ask for a dry one.

Due to the abundance of olive oil, people who regularly eat the Mediterranean diet are said to be less likely to have a heart attack. The Mediterranean diet is even healthier because it is rich in seafood. Good oils and good ingredients also help prevent dementia. However, try to avoid grains and fruits.

Even if you are not a French or Italian restaurant, some people go to family restaurants and enjoy Western food freely. In that case, avoid foods that are high in sugar, such as curry rice, omelet rice, cream stew, casserole, and doria.

The buffet is rich in low-carbohydrate dishes and has an infinite number of choices. Buffets, often referred to as buffets, are a familiar self-service style in which pre-prepared dishes are served side by side on a plate. Low-sugar buffet options include eggs (omelets, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs), grilled fish such as salmon and mackerel, marinated meat and fish, roast beef, roast pork, cold tofu, and salads with a focus on green leafy vegetables. And so on. Avoid rice, pasta, bread, and of course, sweets. Another thing to watch out for is spices. Sweet flavors such as ketchup, homemade, and sweet and sour sauces are not acceptable on carbohydrate-restricted diets. For salad dressing, we recommend French sauce, Thousand Island sauce, mayonnaise, olive oil, etc. On the other hand, avoid low-calorie, fat-free dressings such as green jeans dressings and Japanese-style sauces. These dressings are low in oil and high in sugar for flavoring. As for soup, thick soup such as potato soup and Chinese egg drop soup should not be selected because it contains a lot of starch (sugar), and if there is a drink bar, tea, coffee, black tea, etc. Let's do it. Don't use sugar. Juices are NG, but exceptionally OK if there is no sugar. Vikings have the advantage of being able to go with people who do not have carb restrictions. You can choose a low-carbohydrate menu without worrying about the other party, so it's two birds with one stone.
